Accessibility
We aim to make the Pride Walk as accessible and welcoming as possible for everyone. While we cannot guarantee full accessibility along the entire route, we’ve taken several steps to help support participants with different needs:
The route follows public roads and is mostly flat, suitable for wheelchairs and mobility aids
Our volunteers will be present along the route to offer assistance where needed
The walk starts and ends at Koekamp, right next to Den Haag Centraal Station
We’ll be walking through the city center, so there are plenty of options to step out or rejoin along the way if needed
There will be a chill-out zone at Koekamp before and after the walk for anyone who needs a break
The area is well-connected by public transport (tram, bus, and train)
- Pets are welcome
If you have specific questions about accessibility or need help on the day, feel free to approach one of our volunteers — we’re happy to assist.
Rules
As we are registering the walk with the Municipality as a demonstration there are certain rules we kindly request everyone to follow:
Treat others with kindness and respect — discrimination of any kind is not tolerated.
Follow instructions from Pride Walk volunteers (orange vests) and police at all times.
If you feel unsafe, report it to a volunteer or call 112 in emergencies.
Do not block entrances or take alternative routes. Dangerous objects, alcohol, drugs, and face coverings* (except medical masks) are not allowed.
Do not smoke or vape near the large Pride Flag — please step aside if you wish to smoke.
Keep music and noise at a respectful volume.
Leave the area clean — dispose of waste properly.
Banners and signs are welcome, but must not include hateful, discriminatory, or inciting language or imagery.
*The rule on Face coverings does not apply to the Pride terrain at Koekamp and is a rule set by the police, which they likely won’t enforce, but we as the Pride Workgroup cannot guarantee for. It primarily states, that in the event of any serious incident or violence you might be asked to take any face covering off by the police.
Why a Demonstration?
The Pride Walk is not just a parade; it is a true demonstration. By registering the event as such with the municipality, we ensure that our walk is legally protected as a protest for LGBTQIA+ rights, visibility, and acceptance. This classification requires us to comply with certain regulations set by the municipality — without these measures, we would not have been permitted to proceed. This includes the presence of police during the event and restrictions on full face coverings. While this may feel restrictive, and we don’t agree with everything ourselves, it is necessary for us to secure the right to march.
